An update
Attended John's party for while. It's not a place I fit in. I left early. I was useful while I was there though. Someone failed to pee in the toilet in a rather spectacular fashion. I cleaned it up when I peed in the toilet. Despite all my failures, I am at least potty trained.

I bought a new plate today. I'd trimmed myself down to eight plates, because that was how many plates fit in my plate holder. Then I broke one. Today I replaced it, and I managed to only buy one plate. I was sorely tempted to buy two, so that if I broke another one I'd have a spare already. But I just got rid of at least a dozen plates so as to only have eight, and I managed to refrain from restockpiling plates again.

I've stayed up much later than I should have.

I bought more tools today. I now own a set of bits that covers most of my bit needs. I'm still noticeably lacking a complete socket set for normal sizes. But I don't have a pressing need for that, so I've been managing to resist buying it. The bits I bought today let me tighten a bolt on my tripod, so I had no reason to resist buying those.

Tonight I worked on making a calendar for Bordello. It's been a failure since the start. The project was brought up on very short notice, and I tried to take all the pictures as quickly as possible. The final few never happened though. Someone else was going to make it, but it didn't happen and I found out today it probably would never happen. So I made one. It worked out well, nine "girls" (in quotes because one was a boy) take up nine months, then three per page takes up three more. It was a cohesive layout that worked well. Exactly twelve months were used up and the calendar just worked. Then I realized that I forgot Vanessa, and there were really ten "girls". That ruined everything. Ten months of singles that leads into two pages of five could work, but the aspect ratios were all wrong to fit five per page. I ended up picking two semi-group shots that show all the girls once, and the one "girl" twice as he is in both shots. I'll think about it and poke it a little more, then I'll print some. Enough for each "girl" to get one at least.

Something odd happened to my post about Inglorious Basterds. [info]flainn posted, and he wasn't stupid, rude, or an ass in his post. I'm not sure what to make of it. It's like he accidentally used his in-person personality to post on the internet, instead of his internet personality.

I found a role playing game I like. Corporation, from Brutal Games. I plan to try and run it in late January.

Whee
I've done good at keeping the Daily Page up to date lately.

I broke a plate the other day. I need to replace it.

The mail server at the TCC went down yesterday. At first I thought it went down about 10:00 and came up around 15:00, but this morning I started to get four day old mail, so it appeared that it had been broken for a while and took a long time to catchup.

I've been trying to strengthen my ankles, and it is slowly working.

Someone I know miscarried.

Updates!
I watched Inglorious Basterds this evening. I knew very little about it going in, and I'd hoped for something like Kill Bill, but with Nazis. It wasn't anything like what I expected or wanted. As [info]exvalis pointed out, it was a foreign film snuck into theaters by Tarantino.

In other news, I have a good collection of some critical tools now. Screwdrivers and allen wrenches. I finally have allen wrenches in SAE. I don't need them often, but when I do it's really annoying since I have to borrow them from my neighbor. The allen wrenches are Fuller, which used to be a good brand, made in the U.S.A., but they don't seem to be made here anymore. The screwdrivers, ranging from phillips 0 through phillips 2, plus some flats, plus the precision sizes with antistatic handles, are all Xcelite, and all still made in the U.S.A. just like they used to be. Xcelite are the tools my father owned, and I consider them legendary in their quality and longevity. But the 1970s were a long time ago, and tools wear out or get lost. Hopefully these new ones are as good as the old ones.

An Update!
In no particular order...

This new WoW stuff is amazing. On one hand, they have made the game stupidly easy. More stupidly easy than it was before the last patch, and before that patch, and before that patch, and, well, all the way back to about the time Naxxramas was relased. I'm pretty sure Naxx was about the time that WoW started being nerfed. For instance, they nerfed the level 3 monsters in the starting areas, and they buffed all the level 1 characters. Why I don't know. It's not like a level 3 monster is hard, even if you're still level 1. Tonight a paladin soloed the first pull in Ice Crown Citadel 25-man.

On the other hand, playing my priest I have merely click the LFG button and I have a group. I hold my breath when I click it. Only a few times have I had to breathe before a group appears.

But the groups...

Some are amazing, clearing heroics in 15 minutes over and over. Tonight I ended up in a Culling of Stratholme that was already in progress, 0 bosses down. Not only were there 0 bosses down, but there were 0 crates exposed as well. The whole party was up at the city, waiting. From their debuffs I'd guess they had been waiting about 8 minutes already. Luckily for them I showed up. I knew to talk to Chromie, to expose the crates, to talk to Chromie again, and finally to talk to Arthas to start it up. The DPS did 5k dps total, for the three of them. The low dps was 1088. The tank did close to 4k dps, though, and he had 48k health. They seemed to have no idea what was going on. In the end though, when it looked like we might not make the timer, the tank cleared the gauntlet in about a minute. When we finished the instance only one of them got the achievement for completeing it, so the rest had been there. If they had all been from the same server I'd have assumed they were just playing with me. But the patheticly low dps make me surprised they weren't all new to the insance.

I followed their group up with a heroic ToC. The people in that group only used the "?" character in chat. Again, not all from the same server.

I'm rapidly advancing towards the 75 badges of triumph I need for a new hat.

The new instance called the Halls of Reflection finally put slow a slow walking NPC to good use. Normally they are just a pain on escort quests, as they implore you to hurry but then slowly plod along. That one guy in Redridge was tricky. He walked slowly half way across the zone, then suddenly broke in to a run when you were least expecting it. But the Halls of Reflection has a new twist. The twist is that the slow walking NPC is the Lich King. If he catches up to you, he'll kill you.

I really want to quit wow, but this LFG thing is a lot of fun.

Maybe if I found someone to take pictures of it would distract me from WoW!

American Owned
Something to update about, just after I had nothing...

In Supermart tonight I heard a man say that he refused to eat at El Camino because it isn't American owned. Warren thinks Mehrdad has been here 40 years at least. That would be a long time to live here without bothering to take the test.

Of course, we know what that man really meant. The El Camino isn't owned by a nice safe white man like he is.

I should update
I ate two more cookies than I should have today. Which was two cookies. They were fabulous. On the plus side, my lunch consisted of I'd guess six different kinds of plants leaves (I don't call it a salad because most people associate dressing with it), two kiwi, and a pear.

D&D soon.

I guess I shouldn't have updated, since I seem to have nothing to update about.

I need to update more!

I watered my plants twice recently, almost on schedule. Though before that they went quite dry.

No bread has been made.

Since last update I did make creme brulee. I need to make more creme brulee. I have too many eggs. I think I'm going to start trying one of Kimball's whole egg recipes because I feel bad just tossing the whites, but I can't see myself doing anything with them if I didn't toss them.

I decided today that I should just spend some money. So I bought a thousand dollars worth of books from Amazon, and a set of allen wrenches.

All three cats sat still today and let me pet them. That doesn't happen often.

The new wow patch is scary. On one hand, they nerfed wow so much more that it's absurd now how easy it is (and it was already absurdly easy). On the other hand, finding an instance group was trivial, and we were clearing heroics in 20 minutes. I bought myself a 24 slot bag, but didn't try any new content. I did achieve exalted with two factions, Netherwing and Wyrmrest.

I think it's been February since I had someone to take pictures of. And October of 2008 before that. I need to work harder at this.

I'm still having no trouble biking to work in the mornings. The new balaclava, hat, rain parka, glove liners, and gloves are all working out very well for me.

I want to climb Ladrone on January 1st. I need to identify and recruit people to go with me. This is problem because the weather on top is quite extreme, and while I know quite a few people who could make the climb if there wasn't any weather, I know very few that I think could cope with the weather.
